Earlier this year we had a very successful Fastnet campaign, with two of our Yachts joining the record 362 entrants and both finishing in very respectable positions. All 17 members of our two teams started their steep learning curves back in April this 2017. Using all their hard earned experience from the rigorous training weekends and qualifying races, they performed brilliantly during the race and all ended their campaign enjoying a hard earned beer at Plymouth in August.
Nick Davey skipper of Strata 5 “The race went exceptionally well, we had a brilliant crew, we had the food nailed and consistently good sail changes ( including spinnakers!). We rounded “The Rock” in bright sunshine and finished in good time for all the celebrations. All round it was a superb experience and the race couldn’t have gone better.”
Edd Harvey 1st mate of 40 love “Another great race and experience for all the team! 40 love performed faultlessly and provided us with some of the best sailing and closest offshore racing I have ever taken part in. We had an awesome night sail to the rock with the team in great spirits and a fantastic run home with speed of up to 17knts! Bring on the busy 2018/2019 race calendar, with the ARC and Caribbean 600 at the top of the list!
East Anglian Sea School have had a great year of racing and the programme for the next couple of years is looking very exciting. Plans for the 2019 Fastnet are already well underway and we are pleased to be joining this fantastic event for our 11th time.
