East Anglian Sea School will be entering into the RORC Rolex Fastnet Race again in 2021. The RORC Rolex Fastnet Race starts at Cowes on the Isle of Wight and continues towards the Fastnet Rock off the Southern tip of Ireland via Lands’ End, returning outside the Scilly Isles to finish at Plymouth.

Since 1999 over 160 people have taken part in the legendary ocean race with East Anglian Sea School. Whether you have raced before, and want to use your skills to support the team, or have never sailed or raced before, and are keen to learn, you will gain a great deal from the programme. 

The Fastnet package we offer includes training sessions on the World Sailing (formally ISAF) racing crew qualification including sea survival, a briefing day to allocate crews to boats, two practice sessions, two RORC qualifying races, delivery trip to the south coast & the Fastnet race itself.

The East Anglian Sea School Fastnet package covers some 1800 quality nautical miles, provides unforgettable memories and exciting experiences, as well as improves valuable sailing skills. The Programme

World Sailing Racing Crew Training 5th - 6th June 

Survival Training with heavy weather procedures are over a non-residential weekend at the Sea School at Suffolk Yacht Harbour.

Race Training 26th - 27th June

Race training sessions are held at Suffolk Yacht Harbour and start on a Friday evening with welcome and briefing on board, followed by the race training on Saturday and Sunday.

EAORA Offshore Regatta 8th - 11th July 

Four Offshore races over 4 consecutive days will be the qualifying races for the Fastent. This time spent on board will encourage team bonding and set the scene for tactics, watch routines, etc. We meet on Wednesday evening at Suffolk Yacht Harbour, ready for the race start early on Thursday morning.

Race 1: Harwich to West Mersea

Race 2: West Mersea to Medway

Race 3: Medway to Burnham

Race 4: Burnham to Harwich

The race and return covers approximately 450 nautical miles, before returning to Suffolk Yacht Harbour by Sunday evening.

Race Training 17th - 18th July 

Race training sessions are held at Suffolk Yacht Harbour and start on a Friday evening with welcome and briefing on board, followed by the race training on Saturday and Sunday.

Race Training to Southampton 31st July - 2nd August 

The final race training session covers approximately 180 nautical miles from Levington to Southampton. This starts on Thursday evening and arrives in Southampton on Sunday afternoon in time for Cowes Week for those who may wish to stay.

RORC Rolex Fastnet Race 8th August 

Crew members join the yachts on Saturday in readiness for the race start on Sunday morning. They should reach the finish line at Cherbourg on Thursday/Friday in time to enjoy the awards ceremony and East Anglian Sea School celebrations!

Return to Suffolk Yacht Harbour 14th - 16th August (approx) depending on race finish

We will return 40 Love to her home part following the race finish.
