Round the Island Race

This exciting event is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight. The race regularly attracts over 1,700 boats and 16,000 sailors making it one of the largest yacht races in the world. It is the 4th largest participation sporting event in the UK after the London Marathon, Great North and South Runs.

There will be world renowned sailors racing against families and first time racers. Whether you compete regularly or are new to the sport, taking part in this race will be a day to remember!

As part of a crew you will be racing to complete the 50 nautical mile course, starting on the famous Royal Yacht Squadron line in Cowes. The fleet then races west to The Needles, round St Catherine's Point and Bembridge Ledge buoy, and back into the Solent to the finish line at Cowes. There are many vantage points both on the mainland and Isle of Wight for spectators.
